Estate tax (PH)

Estate tax — the PH tax on the privilege of transmitting property at death (TRAIN): flat 6% of the net estate — worldwide, for resident citizens: PSE, IBKR, the businesses, everything — after the ₱5M standard deduction, the family-home exclusion, and other allowed deductions. Filed (Form 1801) and paid within one year. The rate is mild; the process is the hazard: until paid and the BIR issues a CAR per asset, titles can’t move and accounts face withdrawal withholding. PH estate planning is therefore mostly liquidity planning — insurance outside the estate, papers in order, an inventory heirs can find.
