Foundation / DAF

Foundation / DAF — the philanthropy layer of the UHNW stack, carrying estate and control functions alongside the giving. A foundation is a standing charitable entity the family governs (and staffs, and perpetuates); a DAF (donor-advised fund) is its lightweight version: donate assets now, take the deduction now, direct the grants over time with near-zero administration. Threshold logic applies as everywhere in 5.5: the foundation is a Phase-4 tool; giving itself (5.8’s timing argument) needs no structure at all.
