Final vs schedular tax

Final vs schedular tax — the design seam of the PH tax system. Final taxes (10% on dividends/REITs, 20% on interest, 0.6% STT on listed-share sales) are withheld at source at a flat rate and end the matter — the income never appears on your ITR. Schedular income (business, professional, rental) flows onto your return and is taxed at graduated 0–35% rates (or the 8% option). Once you see the seam, the instrument table becomes memorizable — and you understand why your portfolio’s paper tax life is mostly over before the cash even lands, while your agency’s runs through the 1701 family all year.
