Tax residency
Tax residency — the status determining which country taxes you, and on what base. The modern reality the offshore genre obscures: residency turns on closest-connection / center-of-life tests — where your home, family, and economic interests actually are — not on counting days; the 183-day rule is a myth as a safe harbor. A PH-resident citizen is taxed on worldwide income, so moving accounts abroad changes reporting, not liability; only genuinely moving your life changes the tax.
